Hidden Restaurant on a Cliff in Switzerland

I’ve always felt that the quality which distinguishes a burning passion for food from mere gluttony was a person’s inclination to travel x km just to have a taste of the best mountain-grown truffle, or whatever.

It’s almost like an equation. The more obstacles and resistance there is to get to a destination, the harder the math problem, and thus the more intense the passion.

And you have to be one Masterchef winning, Top Chef triumphing victor to have ever eaten at the Äscher Cliff Restaurant, located at a tiny nook of a mountain in Switzerland.

This is the journey you would need to take to get there.
First, you would have to meet up with your other gangsta’ foodies at Wasserauen station, which leads up a steep path to Seealpsee (“a lake in the Alpstein range of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Switzerland”, wiki-ed)
Next, you have to climb up the extremely steep and tricky mountain path from the Seealpsee to the Äscher, and after quickly dining at the Äscher mountain restaurant, you then follow your tour (without which you might probably get mauled by mountain lions), up to the Ebenalp (“northernmost summit of the Appenzell Alps”, wiki-ed) and enjoy a surreal view of other Swiss mountains.
Thankfully, you don’t have to go back down the same way, because there is a cable car station that will take you right back to the valley in a few minutes.
Total Hiking time: 3 hrs. 05 min.
