Question: Did you have Braces?

I was 11 years old and desperately not wanting to live my life with a metal trap as a mouth. My dentist had told me to wait for my big girl teeth to come in and then he said, “Nope, she should be fine, unless she would like to have braces, then we can arrange that.”

“I’m sorry, did a mailbox hit you in the face?” I said to him. But not out loud, because he was holding teeth pliers.

And then I felt like I was queen of the Lotus Army because I felt that not needing braces when both my siblings did made me infinitely better than them. It’s like God was not multitasking when he made me.

What about you? Had braces/have braces/would like to get braces/got braces even though you didn’t need them?
